Green Dragon OG - Crumble
To be honest, we’ve never really messed with concentrates too much in our smoking career. We’ll take the occasional dab, but since we don’t own our own rig, it’s purely a once-in-a-blue-moon situation.
The Green Dragon brand, however, offers up a variety of concentrates to suit anyone’s needs, including the rock-like crumble and budder, it’s more “waxy” counterpart. While our budtender assured us that either one would be ideal for boosting a joint, blunt, or bowl, we chose the crumble because it seemed easier to handle without making too much of a mess.
Appearance: 4/5
It’s called crumble for a reason, folks. This half gram of product comes in what looks like legitimate crumbs -- small, chunky pieces of soft wax. They’re easily broken apart and not difficult to work with at all. The color of it is light brown, but it’s a muted color. Which reminds us of tiny cake bits leftover on somebody’s plate.
Aroma: 4/5
To be honest, we weren’t sure what crumble was supposed to smell like, if like anything at all. We were surprised to notice that it did carry an aroma, although it’s one you’ll have to sniff out on your own, rather than one that wafts up to you.
The extract smells strongly of that sweet, bitter, almost bleachy plant smell of marijuana, without too much distinction, or flavor, beyond that. Since the product is so concentrated, we thought it was a little like getting a whiff off your favorite liquor versus taking in the aroma of a fine wine. One is carefully cultivated to stand out on its appearance and fragrance, while the other is engineered to deliver a strong effect with a bare-bones aesthetic.
Taste: 4/5
We loaded some of this crumble into our favorite bowl with some of our less-than-favorite plant. As we took an inhale, we could definitely taste the extra strength when the crumble burned. It was a strong taste that gave off a deep flavor when mixed with the flower.
While the smoke was definitely heavier with the concentrate, it wasn’t so heavy to make us cough, or burn our throats.
Effect: 4/5
We could feel something was different instantly. The flower we had paired the crumble with was a decent plant that normally provided us with a basic, workman-like high. With the crumble, however, we were stoned much faster than before. By our first exhale, we were feeling buzzy and relaxed in a way that the flower, alone, could never do. It was the marijuana equivalent of a “boilermaker” -- dropping a shot into a beer, then chugging it right away. That’ll get you buzzed instantly, just like this crumble.
Even though we were getting a heightened high off this crumble and plant combo, the effects weren’t over the moon. Our sensation was heavy without weighing us down, and we were still able to function while high. It wasn’t a brain-melting sensation, but that’s not what we were looking for anyway.
Green Dragon OG Crumble - $25/0.5g
We loved our experience using Green Dragon’s OG Crumble. To us, it was like adding hot sauce to an already spicy Mexican entree -- if you’re looking for an extra kick, this is the way to do it without overshadowing your flower. And while we can’t necessarily recommend using crumble over shatter or budder, we can say that Green Dragon puts out one heck of a product.
Greenwolf LA Pre ICO is not only a great marijuana dispensary, it’s an oasis in a neighborhood sorely lacking in weed shops. This place has great products and offers a personal shopping style experience. We loved going here, and we will definitely be dropping by again in the future. Hope to see you there!

For reasons both foreign and mysterious to us, the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles suffers from an inexplicable dearth of marijuana dispensaries. It’s true that you only need to travel a short distance to visit some fine shops in East Hollywood and Silverlake, but we think weed should be available everywhere, and it’s a damn shame there isn’t even a blip on the radar in this area.
If you’re willing to drive into Atwater Village, just down the street from the infamous Los Feliz Golf Course, you’ll be able to visit one of the best and most courteous dispensaries in LA County - the forebodingly named Greenwolf LA Pre ICO (also known as “Greenwolf”).
The shop is located on the ground floor of a two-story medical complex with a large parking lot in the rear. If you’re confused, just follow the “Marijuana Smoking Prohibited” signs into the courtyard, where you’ll notice the entrance right away. A Security Guard sits outside, in front of a large Greenwolf logo, that would look more at home on the wall of a karate dojo than at a dispensary.
We handed off our IDs and recs, then waited outside while we were processed into the system. Sitting beneath the shade on a sunny afternoon was a wonderful change of pace to most waiting areas. Little did we know, this was just the beginning of an experience that would be contrary to most dispensaries.
After a minute, a woman stepped outside carrying an iPad. This was our budtender, and she escorted us inside. The term ‘showroom’ is particularly apt here, since the entire interior of the store is dedicated to showing off their product, all housed in glass cases. Our budtender gave us the ten-cent tour, showing off their items: CBD products, waxes and concentrates, edibles, pre-rolls, and, of course, their flower.
As we looked around, we noticed that every customer in the store had their own budtender with an iPad assisting them. This personal shopping experience was a revelation, and we were excited to have an expert guiding us through the inventory. We confess that we might have even asked more questions than usual, eager to informally quiz our budtender about things that caught our eye. To her credit, she volleyed all of our inquiries back with informed answers and experience. Unlike most dispensaries, which operate like a corner store, this was a luxurious alternative.
Once we selected our products, our budtender added the items into our cart via her iPad, then directed us to the back, where we could pay and pick up our purchases from the staff. Checkout was as painless as possible. And it wasn’t long before we were back outside in the warm California sunshine. Just like that, we were retracing our steps along the “Marijuana Smoking Prohibited” signs back to our auto. Shopping at Greenwolf made us feel so good, we could have lit up right then and there.
